Impact vs Integration

Impact

Impact is an imprecise word. It suggests making a dent, external force being applied. That is not a very good metaphor.

Integration

That is a better word. Every one of us is in a sense a collection of influences, a collection of beliefs, experiences, stories, neural paths…

We can play a part in other people’s lives. Be a part of their experience or story. It’s up to us what that part is.

If we’re generous, we give. We enrich, brighten, help, smile.

But we can also take.

It’s up to us.
