Regret: removal and prevention
Let's start with the etymology:
Regret:
late 14c., regreten, "to look back with distress or sorrowful longing; to grieve for on remembering"
To look back with distress. To feel sorrowful longing. To grieve.
Much like with other negative emotions, I think they are a useful teacher, but dwelling on regrets is not a good way to live life.
So how not to dwell on them?
Here's how I've processed my regrets....
The Maze of Preconceptions
A preconception is an idea or opinion you have about something before you really know much about it.
So we have these ideas, these thoughts about the future and how it's going to be....
Re: Meditation
On New Year's Day, I began meditating again. It wasn't a resolution, it just happened.
I did an hour that day, and cumulatively about an hour every day, mostly in 30 minute sessions. One at the start of the day, and one at the end of it. I haven't been perfectly consistent, but that's not necessary to feel a significant effect on my mental health and clarity....
