Wear a different self

This is what I do
This is what I don’t do

This is who I am
This is who I am not

When we’re children, we don’t care about this. We are. We play. We learn.

As we get older, we create a sense of self — a cluster of beliefs, behaviors, and ideas revolving around an ego.

That self guides us through life. All the options and facts are filtered through our self. This is fine. Unless, of course, it isn’t.

The self can ossify. It can become resistant to change.

I’m just not good at… No, I don’t want to try this… I don’t do…

And so the self can become a straightjacket.

Don’t let it. Wear a self that fits the situation.
